I’m beyond excited to share that I’ve officially been accepted as a volunteer at The Langley Whale Center! Starting March 23rd, I’ll be joining this incredible organization to help educate the public about our local marine life and the whales that frequent the Salish Sea.
Ever since I was young, I’ve been fascinated by the ocean, especially whales. Their intelligence, grace, and importance to marine ecosystems have always captivated me, and now, I get to play a small role in protecting them and sharing their stories with others.
The Langley Whale Center, located on Whidbey Island, is dedicated to marine conservation, education, and advocacy for the whales and wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. As a volunteer, I’ll be helping visitors learn about the different whale species that pass through our waters, sharing information about conservation efforts, and connecting people with ways to support these incredible animals.
This opportunity feels like a perfect next step in my journey toward a career in marine conservation. Alongside my upcoming training with the WSU Beach Watcher and Naturalist program, I’m excited to gain hands-on experience, deepen my knowledge, and be part of a passionate community of ocean lovers.
I’ll be sharing my experiences, cool whale facts, and behind-the-scenes moments from my time at the center right here on The Kelp Chronicles! Stay tuned for updates as I dive into this new adventure.
Have you ever visited The Langley Whale Center? What’s your favorite marine animal? Let’s chat in the comments! 🌊💙
